Enrolment

Your Child's Future Starts Here

Enrolment Information

BRPS fosters a learning environment where all children are provided with the knowledge and skills they require to develop and thrive. We pride ourselves on our educators’ desire to provide high standards of learning in a manner that builds strong community and culture.

The school encourages a caring atmosphere where children feel emotionally, socially and physically secure. Critical thinking, freedom and confidence to question, reflective learning, problem solving and negotiation skill development are all integral parts of the curriculum and school environment.

How to Enrol

Check Eligibility

Ensure that your child meets the eligibility criteria for enrolment. Ideally, you should reside within our designated neighbourhood zone, however if we have capacity we can accept out of zone applications.

Find my School will help you determine your designated neighbourhood school zone.

School Tour and Information Sessions

We offer school tours and information sessions for prospective students and their families. This is an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the school's facilities, visit classrooms and ask questions.

To join one of our Foundation tours please click on the booking link here.

Documentation

Gather the necessary documents including your child's birth certificate, immunisation records, proof of address, passport & visa if applicable, recent student report cards, and any legal documentation (such as custody arrangements) if applicable.

Our School Zone

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.

Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

For more information about our school zone, please contact our school. For answers to frequently asked questions about school zones, visit School zones

Foundation (Prep) enrolments

The Department of Education has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.

The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Black Rock Primary School.

You can find information and resources about the enrolment timeline at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep).

Our school uses the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system called VicStudents. This means you can submit your Foundation (Prep) application online and receive updates through the system. If you have any questions about the online enrolment process, please contact our school. Paper enrolment application forms are also available on request.

Parent Payments

While the Department of Education’s funding ensures the provision of the Victorian Curriculum at no cost to you, it’s the voluntary contributions from our families that allow us to go above and beyond, providing exceptional programs and resources that make our school truly stand out.

We want to assure you that every contribution, though voluntary, directly enhances teaching and learning for our students. Your support enables us to undertake school improvement projects that contribute to a better learning environment for students. This financial support helps improve our facilities and curriculum resources as well as enhance our support staff.

Here is the Parent Payment Policy created by the Department of Education.

We understand that some families may face financial challenges, and we want to assure you that support options are available. Black Rock Primary School offers the following assistance programs:

  • Second-hand uniform shop
  • State Schools Relief Fund (SSRF)
  • Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF)

For a confidential discussion about accessing these services or to explore alternative payment arrangements, please feel free to contact our Business Manager, at 03 9598 2293 or via email at black.rock.ps@education.vic.gov.au
