Transitioning to school
Before the school year begins, we encourage future students to visit the school, join our transition sessions to get familiar with their new environment and meet their new class and teacher.
As your child progresses through each year, we maintain a consistent support system that adapts to their changing needs. For Grade 6 students, we facilitate the transition to secondary education through structured collaboration with local high schools.
What specialist classes are offered?
We’re proud of our unique approach to learning, designed to create an engaging and meaningful educational experience for your child.
Our specialist classes are comprised of Chinese (Mandarin), Physical Education, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Sustainability, Library, and Digital Technology.
To learn more about our core, specialist and extra-curriculum activities, please explore the learning section of our website.
Do you offer before and after school care?
Camp Australia is an Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) company that gives children enriching before and after school and pupil-free day experiences.
Camp Australia’s dedicated approach provides a service that is tailored to Black Rock Primary School, ensuring that the evolving requirements of your child, school and community are met.
Camp Australia operates within the school and is tailored to the educational ethos and values of our school.
Camp Australia operates from 7am-8:45am and 3:30pm-6:15pm Mon-Fri.
During the school holidays, Camp Australia offers the Rocketeers program at our school, making every day an opportunity to embark on a new ‘Mission’ where no two adventures are the same!
What technology do students use?
At Black Rock Primary School we have a firm belief that in the primary school setting devices should be supplied by the school.
We believe that every family should be able to decide whether or not they have devices in their own household, and this is why we do not have a BYOD program at our school, setting us apart from most other schools.
Our Foundation and Year 1 students have access to school-managed iPads that are used to supplement the learning program while our Year 2-6’s use Chromebooks.
Does BRPS offer lunch orders?
We partner with Classroom Cuisine to offer families the option of ordering lunch orders. These are available on Mondays and Fridays.
To place a lunch order, you will need to visit the ‘Classroom Cuisine’ website which accepts orders for current day delivery up until 8:30am that morning. All orders are online only.
The lunch items will be delivered to the school and sent to the students classroom.
